On 3rd April, 2025, Lizu Community Network joined the rest of the country in protesting against defilement, standing in solidarity with communities demanding justice for survivors and stronger measures to combat the rampant increase of cases in Zambia.
Our chants were loud and clear—we are calling for a constitutional amendment to stiffen the punishment of perpetrators and ensure better protection for children and all citizens from any form of violence.
Defilement is not just a crime; it is a violation of fundamental human rights that leaves lasting scars on survivors, families, and communities. The increasing number of cases highlights the urgent need for more decisive action from lawmakers, law enforcement agencies, and society at large.
What We Are Demanding
Harsher penalties for offenders to serve as a strong deterrent.
Stronger enforcement of existing child protection laws.
Community-driven awareness and advocacy to prevent sexual violence Support services for survivors to ensure justice and healing.
This is not just a fight for justice—it is a fight for the future of our children and the safety of our communities. We will not be silent until meaningful legal reforms are enacted and implemented.
We stand firm in our demand: #CageTheCriminals!
Thank you to everyone who participated, raised their voices, and continues to push for change. Together, we can build a safer Zambia free from sexual violence.
