Lizu Community Network at the Pan African Youth Conference in South Africa– Standing Strong for Tobacco Control

From 28–30 May 2025, Lizu Community Network participated in the Pan African Youth Conference – I Am Not Falling Campaign held in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. This dynamic gathering brought together youth leaders from across the continent to share strategies, experiences, and commitments toward advancing public health and safeguarding communities from harmful industry influence.

During the conference, we shared how participating in Organizational Development and System Strengthening training by Amref Health Africa through the Y-ACT Youth in Action programme has significantly strengthened our organization’s capacity and amplified our impact in the call for the enactment of the Tobacco Control Bill in Zambia.

Why the Tobacco Control Bill Matters

As we join the world in commemorating World No Tobacco Day today, our message is clear:
We must urgently enact the Tobacco Control Bill to protect the health and future of Zambians. Every delay allows the tobacco industry more time to interfere, influence, and undermine public health efforts.

Our Call to Action

Let’s unmask every tiny act of industrial interference and remain steadfast in our demand for strong, enforceable tobacco control laws. The health of the next generation depends on the choices we make today.
