In an inspiring show of collaboration,on 1st August, 2025, Kwayedza Youth Community and Lizu Community Network hosted a youth engagement session aimed at bridging the gap between young people and law enforcement.
The session featured three distinguished officers from the Zambia Police Service – Eastern Division:
-
Senior Superintendent Emmanuel Chabamba – Provincial Services Coordinator
-
Detective Inspector Mcknown Kyembe – In-Charge Cybersecurity and Cybercrimes
-
Assistant Superintendent Adamson Nkandu – Division Chaplain
- Kapata Ward Councilor – Hon. Matthews Kachali
This engagement was more than a conversation, it was a platform for education, dialogue, and trust-building. Young people had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of:
-
Their rights and responsibilities as citizens
-
The role of the police in maintaining safety both online and offline
-
Practical ways to protect themselves in the digital space and in their communities
Why This Matters
In an era where the internet shapes much of daily life, young people face both opportunities and risks. From cyberbullying to online fraud, the challenges are real. Equally, misunderstandings between youth and law enforcement can undermine public safety.
By creating spaces for direct dialogue with the police, we break down barriers, address misconceptions, and foster mutual respect.
Partnerships That Strengthen Communities
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Zambia Police Service, Eastern Division, and Kapata Ward Area Councillor for their openness and willingness to partner with local organizations like ours. Their collaboration is vital to building safer, better-informed communities where young people can thrive.
As Lizu Community Network, we remain committed to empowering youth with knowledge, skills, and the confidence to navigate both physical and digital spaces responsibly. Together, we can create a culture of safety, trust, and civic responsibility.
