Today, as the world marks International Youth Day, Lizu Community Network joins millions across the globe in celebrating the energy, creativity, and resilience of young people. This year’s commemorations carry a deeper meaning for us, not only do we recognize the incredible potential of youth, but we also spotlight their role in driving progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At Lizu, we believe that a community empowered by digital innovation can achieve inclusive governance and sustainable development. Young people are at the heart of this belief. They are the changemakers pushing for climate action, digital inclusion, gender equality, and accountable governance.
Why This Day Matters to Us
In our work with grassroots communities across Eastern Zambia, we see every day how young people bring fresh solutions to old challenges. Whether it’s advocating for better public services, leveraging technology for civic engagement, or mobilizing peers to act on environmental sustainability, youth are leading the charge.
But their voices often need stronger platforms and opportunities for action. That’s why Lizu Community Network is committed to providing spaces for skills development, advocacy, and dialogue, empowering young people to influence decisions that affect their future.
Our International Youth Day 2025 Activities
This year, we are marking the day with the theme:
“5 Years to 2030: African Youth Action for the SDGs, Governance, and the Future.”
Here’s what we have lined up:
1. Celebrating Youth Champions for the SDGs
We are spotlighting inspiring young people from across Zambia and beyond who are making a difference in areas such as education, digital innovation, environmental sustainability, and social accountability. Through our platforms, we will share their stories to inspire others to take action in their own communities.
2. Special Webinar: Youth, Governance, and the SDGs
We’re bringing together dynamic young leaders to discuss how youth can accelerate progress on the SDGs and shape governance for a better future.

Our Call to Action
The countdown to 2030 is real — and the role of youth has never been more critical. We call on governments, civil society, and the private sector to invest in youth leadership, digital skills, and inclusive participation.
